Altar table top



Altar Table top for the church of “Blessed English Martyrs” in Askern.

The top was African mahogany with a centre of sycamore and brass inlaid with twelve English timbers to represent the apostles,–apple, ash, beech, cherry, elm, laburnum, lime, oak, pear, sweet chestnut, walnut and yew. With forty of them breaking through a crown of thorns, made of afrormosia and hyedua, to represent┬áthe forrogers-woodwork-112ty martyrs.
